Teaching and learning sequence:

Class discussion and revisit word wall of vocabulary - why are certain materials used for certain purposes?

Stimulus video - paper planes. Discussion about the materials used, why, tools, plans.

Demonstrate putting together a basic paper plane and flying. Class discussion on what materials, tools, design used. Did it work? Why/why not? Suggested improvments - materials, tools, design?

Group work - online research on paper plane designs.

Groups to work with different materials to design their best paper plane - Criteria = fly the longest distance.

Design, Predict, Test, Improve.

Whole class paper plane flying contest.
