Recognise different types of data and explore how the same data can be represented in different ways (ACTDIK008).

  • Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islander:  Identify that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ languages and dialects are interconnected elements of Country/Place, Culture and People and these relationships are linked to the deep knowledge traditions and holistic world views of Aboriginal communities and/or Torres Strait Islander communities.

 

Objectives

This resource aims to provide teachers with a series of sessions designed to scaffold an understanding of concepts, skills and processes regarding different types of data, how data can be represented, and how to define and solve simple sequences of instruction.  Students will be able to:

 

  • Identify features of morse code, binary code representations, QR Codes and simple computer programming.

  • Create simple representations of data to generate solutions.

 

Safety

 

Teachers need to identify safety issues and conduct risk assessments.  For this resource, teachers should:

 

  •  refer to workplace health and safety policy pertaining to schools.

  •  ensure that students wear personal protective equipment.
